Philadelphia artist, activist, and community leader Tone Trump has teamed up with visionary director CEO Nafees to launch Big Five Pictures, a bold new film and television company dedicated to creating culturally impactful, locally rooted content. Their first major project? An original scripted series titled “Poverty.”

Currently filming on location throughout Philadelphia, Poverty is more than just a show — it’s a movement. Tone Trump explains:

“Let me introduce our first original scripted series. It’s called POVERTY.

We’re shooting right here in Philly, and this project is much bigger than television. It’s a direct investment in the city’s creative economy — we’re hiring local talent, building crews from our communities, and proving that world-class, culturally powerful storytelling can happen right here, without being outsourced.

I created and wrote the series, and I play Mr. Muhammad, a former convict now leading a court-mandated life skills program for adults on probation. The story is raw, emotional, and deeply human — it’s about addicts, ex-cons, single parents, and everyday people trying to rebuild under immense pressure.

Directed by CEO Nafees and executive produced by icons CeeLo Green (five-time Grammy winner), Ice T (Grammy & Emmy winner), and film/fashion mogul Rich Coleman, Poverty brings together a powerhouse team committed to making a real difference.

The series centers around four strong Black women navigating poverty, trauma, motherhood, and survival while caught in systems that weren’t built for them.

With guest appearances from Ice T, Akon, and Julito McCullum (The Wire), and breakout performances by rising stars Diaz and Kelina, this is authentic, timely storytelling.

Poverty is not just about what’s on screen — it’s about creating jobs, building opportunity, and putting Philly back on the map as a major player in the film and TV industry.”

Keep your eyes on Big Five Pictures — their work is poised to shift the culture and spotlight the power of stories rooted in truth.
