The Game returned to Compton this week with intention, partnering with WSS to host a community giveback supporting students from the Compton Unified School District. The event combined mentorship, music, and cultural connection in a way that reflected hip-hop’s ongoing commitment to community impact.
Approximately 50 scholars from Centennial, Chavez, Compton, and Dominguez High Schools attended the private activation, which was organized around WSS’s mission to give back by bringing together streetwear, footwear, culture, and music.
Students received fresh Nike Air Force Ones, with sizes collected beforehand to ensure every attendee received a personalized pair. Complimentary haircuts were provided by barbers from Image by Ty Jordan Barbershop, adding another layer of confidence-building to the experience.
Storm Burger food truck provided meals featuring classic burgers, bean options, chicken selections, seasoned fries, and drinks, creating a relaxed environment that encouraged interaction among students and organizers.
Rhodes Enterprises assisted WSS in organizing the event, helping coordinate the activation and bring together educators, community leaders, and cultural figures.
DJ Carisma handled music duties throughout the evening, delivering a soundtrack rooted in Los Angeles hip-hop culture while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
The centerpiece came during an intimate Q&A session moderated by Centennial High School Principal Dr. Walker, with Dominguez Principal Oliver also present. Students engaged directly with The Game, discussing perseverance, decision-making, and navigating personal challenges.
The event also featured a listening experience previewing new music, connecting the artist’s evolving sound with the city that shaped his career.
As hip-hop continues emphasizing accountability and legacy, events like this demonstrate how artists can use influence to create direct local impact. The Game’s return highlighted how giving back remains one of the culture’s strongest traditions.
