Recently HHS1987 caught up with Hoodrich/Grand Hustle’s own DJ MLK to discuss an array of things. DJ MLK spoke briefly about being an A&R for T.I’s upcoming album “Paperwork” and just what we can expect from T.I’s upcoming project. When we asked what we can expect from “Paperwork”, DJ MLK let us know,

“This album is going to be some “I’m Serious, some “Trap Musik”, its gonna be him”.
DJ MLK also spoke on the current state of the Atlanta hip-hop scene and how social media has changed the entire landscape of the game. Informing us on how at one point artist had to get out and mingle with fans, DJs and radio personalities to get their music out where today artist think a simple tweet will build relationships.
Having so much success breaking new records and new artist, we asked DJ MLK to explain to DJ’s across the world the art of breaking records. He explained to us how now a days DJ’s no longer break artist, they cosign them.
“It’s all about the cosign now. That’s in anything, music, fashion, anything. If a established person plays your record, its over”.
Before we closed our interview with DJ MLK, he gave us a preview of what we can expect from him and the rest of his Grand Hustle team as the year moves on. With his mixtape series “Good Night Don’t Exist in ATL” having huge success, DJ MLK let us know what we can expect from his next installment as well as his upcoming project with fellow Hoodrich DJ, DJ Scream.
