Grammy award winning musician and actor, Big Boi, has been cast in Sony’s upcoming remake of the classic 1972 film, Superfly. He will play the role of Mayor Atkins, and will co-star alongside, Allen Maldonado (Black-ish), Trevor Jackson (Grown-ish), and Jason Mitchell (Straight Outta Compton). Alex Tse (Watchmen) is the mastermind behind the pen as far as the screenplay goes. He has based it on the original Gordon Parks Jr. directed drama. For those unfamiliar, Superfly follows an African American cocaine dealer who tries to secure one more deal before getting out of the business. Director X, a music video aficionado, is set to direct while Joel Silver (The Matrix, Lethal Weapon) is set to produce.
